Having your car displayed at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association Show is an extraordinary honor reserved for a special few. Thanks to Royal Purple, however, that honor was extended for the second year in a row to two lucky car owners who aren’t huge names in the industry but rather good ‘ole enthusiasts who have a passion for classic sheet metal. We already introduced you to the first winner of Royal Purple’s Show it Off at SEMA contest over on StangTV.com, so now it’s time to introduce you to the other honorary guest of Royal Purple- a Candy Apple Red 1970 Road Runner.

While the Plymouth brand went out some time ago, the classics of the brand still remain current as some of the most highly sought after cars of their era.

The 1970 Road Runner is such a car, boasting a no-frills attitude that conjured up ideas of speed and performance.

But Dennis Rostenbach’s 1970 custom Road Runner far surpasses the factory Road Runners of years past.

Equipped with a 6.1L HEMI engine, complete with an Imagine Injection stack intake and throttle bodies, as well as a Fuel Air Spark Technology engine management system, Rostenbach’s Road Runner is far from mundane. This potent beast features a Keisler A-41 4-speed automatic transmission with PCS paddle shifters and flip-up push button shifter, as well as a PCS transmission controller. Putting the car’s power where it’s meant to be is an RMS Alterkation front suspension and street Lynx rear suspension aided by Foose Knight Wheels and Nitto tires. The Road Runner also makes use of Hotchkis sub-frame connectors and 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes for fantastic frame stabilization and braking power.

Inside the car, you’ll find even more features, including a custom vintage dash, Classic Instrument gauges, a Vintage Air Gen IV A/C system, custom Australian leather upholstery with ostrich inserts, Arc Audio amp, speakers and subwoofers, and a custom made center console.

The luxury theme continues to the exterior of the car where you will find custom flush mounted door handles, hand-formed wheel wells, and of course, gorgeous PPG Candy Apple Red paint. If you look under the hood, you’ll also find a custom touch by way of a custom fiberglass engine cover.

There is no doubt that this Road Runner is truly one of a kind and very much deserving of its 2012 SEMA Show showcase.
