More and more of the owners of the famed and high-anticipated Dodge Challenger SRT Demon are bringing their cars home, and then heading off to the dragstrip. So far, we’ve seen a lot of battles and track runs out of these machines, as well as real life testing, and dyno pulls. However, what we’re seeing more and more of is that the Demon is hardly the only Challenger trim on the block worthy of garage space. Case and point, this Dodge Challenger Drag Pak ready for some Demon blood.
According to the comments below this video posted recently on YouTube showing the race, this 354 cubic inch Drag Pak car is likely to run in the 1,000-horsepower range. And while the Challenger Demon might not come close to that with its 840-horsepower, the Demon is also purpose built for straight-line racing, equipped with a transbrake that acts as a bigger advantage than you’d think.
While there may be a mountain of excuses about what is happening in this video, the Dodge Challenger Demon failed to put on the show you’d hope for, and maybe the driver wasn’t pushing it to the limit — but maybe you shouldn’t video tape and race a car that isn’t ready either.
Not to be too harsh on the Demon, all things considered, it didn’t exactly lose either. While the Drag Pak car left the line with a howl to the moon, and the Demon with a whimper, it managed to catch up, but neither cars were really all that impressive at the end. Maybe they both need a driver mod?
