Ask just about any Mustang enthusiast, and they’ll tell you that the 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R truly was a car ahead of its time. When we look back at the conception of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT), it was a way for the company to show its commitment to racing and high performance. Thus, the ’93 SVT Cobra R was born.
With function and form in mind, the R was based on a production Cobra platform and reduced of anything the Blue Oval deemed excess weight; such as the rear seats, air conditioning, the radio and the sound deadening material. From there, the Cobra R received a complete suspension revamp which included the use of heavy-duty components.
Fast forward to this example found on eBay, which is number 41 out of 107 total produced. Of course, it’s finished in the only color that the Cobra Rs came available in, which was Vibrant Red, and this example has just under 240 original miles on its odometer. According to the eBay ad, the car was a local trade-in and the previous owner had purchased it from the original owner back in 2004.
It seems as though this Cobra R really hasn’t gotten around much, given that it’s nearly two decades old and has less than 300 miles total. As we’ve highlighted in the past, the ’93 SVT Cobra R is truly the rarest of all Fox Mustangs ever produced – but be prepared to shell out a some serious coinage for this Fox.
