There seems to be something for everyone popping up on eBay lately. Recently, a restored ‘71 Dodge Charger Super Bee showed up for bid. This pro-touring car is definitely a looker and would have made someone very happy had the bids not been so low and the car sold.
The Super Bee came equipped with a rebuilt 440cui V8 engine with a Voodoo camshaft, Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor. Although the car had not been dyno-tested by the time the car was listed, the ad says that the engine has been estimated to produce about 500hp. The billet aluminum power steering, alternator, pulleys and radiator gave this car a unique look while keeping the engine cool and running properly. To put the power of the engine to the ground, the Super Bee came with an automatic transmission.
Painted in factory-correct yellow and black, this Super Bee had a straight body, well-maintained interior and working gauges. The underside of the car sported solid floor and trunk pans, stainless steel exhaust, a sub-frame connector kit, new brake lines and a 3.55 Sure Grip rear end.
While this car was gorgeous, it didn’t get much love from the bidders. Only 19 bids were placed, the highest of which was only $12,355. At the close of the auction on May 29th, the high bid hadn’t met the reserve. According to the lot information, this wasn’t the only time the reserve hadn’t been met on this car. The information stated that the car had been listed on eBay before. Because the reserve had not been met for that auction, the reserve had been lowered for this one. Unfortunately, this still didn’t help the owner sell his car. We hope we see this car relisted because it is a very nice pro-touring car. Maybe the third time really is the charm.
