There can only be one world’s quickest and fastest street car, and the explosion in popularity of street cars and street legal drag racing of late has led racers the world over to lay claim to the title, making the apples-to-oranges comparison one of the most talked-about topics in our sport. The players themselves have, for the most part, stayed out of the back and forth message board banter regarding the specific ‘qualifications’ necessary to wear the belt, but one challenger in particular, Englishman Andy Frost, has lampooned the subject and his detractors in the United States who have derided his car and his efforts and made him the center of endless callouts.

The derision has come for good reason, if you’re Frost of course, as he holds the time slip to the quickest outright pass by a street legal, street-driven car in history after clocking a 6.407-second pass at 225.88 MPH at the Santa Pod Raceway in England back in September — a full three-tenths quicker than Tom Bailey’s Drag Week-best 6.70 here in the states. 

These days everyone seems to want a piece of everyone else to prove their street car supremacy, from the Drag Week bunch to Street Outlaws and their emerging challengers to Frost himself, but the laid-back Brit has taken it all in stride, and his Red Victor team even put together this comical satire of the Hot Rod staff and Drag Week racers, using a scene from the German-made film “Downfall” (a film often used for satire videos like this one) to poke fun at the entire situation.

It’s unlikely that we’ll hear the end of this argument until everyone has completed Drag Week, has raced on a blocked-off eighth-mile of road in Oklahoma City, and checked off any other stipulations that are required, but it’s all certainly entertaining for those of us on the sidelines.
