One of the fastest growing traditional hot rod & custom shows in the country, the much celebrated and often lauded Lonestar Round Up in Austin, Texas is set to kick off on April 4th. One of the many great things about the LSR is how the entire city welcomes the show and its participants with open arms. If you’ve never been to Austin, you’ve got to see it for yourself to really get a taste of how awesome it is.
It’s not uncommon to see rods and customs from out of town start showing up on the Monday before the show, just to cruise around and hang out in such a great city! South Congress is the cruising spot of choice, with The Continental Club being a major epicenter of the action. After near a week of unofficial fun, the real show starts bright and early on Friday at the Travis County Expo Center.
The variety of things going on besides the car show ensure no shortage of fun: live music (of course), vendor and swap meet areas, an art show and mini bike race. That’s right, a mini bike race! Don’t forget to pace yourself, because this is a two-day event and Saturday is just as happenin’ as Friday.
The Austin-based Kontinentals Car Club is hosting the event as usual, who do a terrific job year after year of organizing and running this fantastic show. With the show now in its 13th year, it continues to grow and attract participants and spectators from around the US as well as internationally–lending to the shows continued level of badassery.
For more info, visit the LSR’s website or feel free to email [email protected]. There’s also plenty of info that can be found on the H.A.M.B. Everything from the best spots to eat, fun things to do after the show, and even a breakdown assistance thread can be found for those of you planning to drive long distances in your rod or custom.
