In the automotive world, things just keep evolving. Every year, another new model, gizmo or gadget hits the scene and forever changes the landscape. Massive innovative jumps and small tweaks on an old tune all shape the hot rod world into what it is today.
It is so incredibly easy to get lost in changes. As a culture we have a serious case of “oh that’s shiny!” and move on to the next big thing. Recently, three guys decided they’d had enough and started something truly amazing. Brandon, Jeff and Jay hosted the first ever JalopyJamUp. The JalopyJamUp is more than just a car show. This is a lifestyle show. Every car and truck there was pre-1963 and built as if it were done in those days. No fiberglass, neon colors or fancy electronics. Just wicked sheetmetal built by those who have a desire to relive the old days.
The setting for this event was perfect, though a bit out of the way. A ghost town set the back drop, creating the perfect ambiance for a stroll through days of old. More than 200 cars from Canada and the USA lined the streets of the little rural town in Canada. Much like they would have so many years ago before car shows were turned into a massive spectacle of glitz and glamor. Rockabilly was a prevalent theme, both in music, cars and attire. Heavy rains proved to not be of issue to the high level of attendees. The show was a huge success and will continue on again next year.
