The Fast & Furious franchise will never be the same without leading actor Paul Walker, however, Universal Studios has just announced that filming for the seventh movie in the series will resume in April. But that’s not all they’ve revealed. According to Hollywood Life, it has now been confirmed that scenes Walker had already filmed with fellow actors will be kept in the film, giving Walker and his character Brian O’Connor the send-off his fans and cast-mates prefer.
Since Walker’s tragic death on November 30, 2013, the question of how the Fast & Furious franchise would go on has been at the forefront of fans’ minds. Because of this, the last couple of months have been filled with rumors on where the Fast & Furious 7 movie will lead, from stipulations that a stand-in would replace Walker all together, to reports of Walker’s younger brother Cody stepping in to finish the work his brother had already started. But according to Hollywood Life, Walker will remain in the film.
As we announced before, Fast & Furious 7 is set to be released on April 10th, 2015, with Walker’s character being retired rather than killed off. How this will happen, we’re still unsure, but fans can now give a sigh of relief that their beloved front-man won’t be nixed out of the up-coming film.
While we had trouble believing that Walker would be pulled from Fast & Furious 7 completely, his tragic death in the Porsche GT accident, that also took the life of his friend Roger Rodas, presented a unique problem for the series, which has starred Walker in five of the last six movies. But with this latest announcement, it is guaranteed that Walker’s final movie will maintain the full cast that all of us have grown to love.
With filming of the series resuming in April, we’re sure to see more announcements regarding the phaseout of Walker’s character, and we’ll be sure to share any and all of that information with you as soon as we get it.
