Five Accounts You Should Follow On Twitter Just For Fun

Some Twitter users find the time to make multiple tweets in the course of a day. Others… not as much, but they still drive the point home. Using Twitter effectively is a skill, and we found five accounts that use the social media site well.

According to Twitter’s company stats released in August of this year (2017), there are 328 million monthly active twitter users. over 500 million tweets are sent a day – not all  of them from @realDonaldTrump – with most (80 percent) of these sent by mobile device.

With all this activity, it would seem that using twitter to the maximum would be easy, right? Yeah… well … not so much. There are few that do it right but we’re here to point out five of our favorites that you should follow on twitter:

1: Jo Coddington @JoCoddington

Key twitter stats: 11.6K Tweets, 16.8K Following, 46.1K Followers.

Jo Coddington keeps us entertained with great car shots and a sense of humor. Let us be the judge this time.

When it comes to social media, we like to be entertained or educated. Jo Coddington does both. First, she is easy to look at, which is a bonus. Second, she is a bonafide car fanatic. Born and raised in the industry, Jo knows cars, especially custom hot rods, has earned respect in the field and has seen enough to help solve hot rodder’s problems with builds. People listen to her and they should.

Any true hot rodder can respect and appreciate another’s work, even if it isn’t something they would do themselves. We love that Jo points out the positive in other builder’s cars.

What we like about Jo’s tweets:  She tweets routinely, about every other day or so. Her tweets are amusing, funny, make a point about something hot rod related, or shows a little of her own personality by talking about her journey, something she learned recently, or just pokes fun at herself. She has a great eye for cars, and uses hashtags as well as anyone. We’re as hardened and rough gearheads as they come, but we follow Jo and she makes our little corner of the world better.

These posts from Jo just speak for themselves.

We Save Auto History is a catchall for anything related to cars in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Mostly ads and old tech articles, this Twitter account really hits us where we live.

2: We Save Auto History @saveautohistory

Key twitter stats: 56K Tweets, 306 Following, 8,823 Followers

Sure the name says it all when it comes to the focus of this account, but it barely reaches the actual enjoyment that looking at some of the advertisements and photos bring. While this account focuses on car ads from the 40s,50s,60s, and into the 70s, and performance articles from old car magazines, they do retweet other tweets that feature phenomenal cars or junkyard finds. Some of these will just plain bring a tear to your eyes.

A lot of great educational links on this account.

To truly save auto history, someone has to pay attention to the cars off the beaten path. That is exactly what this account does. The cars that are often forgotten get the most attention. Unfortunately this account doesn’t get the volume of followers that it deserves. We’re proud to share our enjoyment of their work. Take a look and see what you think.

We are Kindig-It fans so it comes as no surprise that we follow Dave Kindig and Kindig-It Design’s Twitter accounts.

3: Dave Kindig @davekindigit

Key twitter stats: 1,518 Tweets, 166 Following, 10.5K Followers

Bonus: Kindig-It Designs @kindigitdesigns

Key twitter stats: 2,607 Tweets, 8,097 Following, 20.1K Followers

Who else is going to give you a discount on other company’s products?

We support Dave Kindig. He’s always been great with his fans and customers. While these two accounts are decidedly business based for Kindig-It Designs, there are some real jewels that get tweeted. They often pull the sheets back and let you see their latest build, or explain that not everything is as it appears on TV. For instance, Dave explained that Kevdogg is actually a hard worker in response to a fan’s question concerning Kevdogg’s lack of worktime shown on TV. You gotta like a guy that stands up for his people.

We suspect that Mrs. Kindig runs the Kindig-It designs account, which gives it a different flavor than Dave’s Twitter account. If you are a fan of Bitchin’ Rides or the Kindig-It Designs car builds, follow either of these Twitter accounts and ask questions. They do respond.

Car Porn presents hundreds of things that we didn’t even know that we were interested in.

4: Car Porn @Car_P0rns

Key twitter stats: 141K Tweets, 13.1K Following, 29.5K Followers

Ok. Girls, cars, funny memes, worthless information that you never new that you were interested in, and jokes. Like we expressed early in the discussion, we like to be entertained or educated with our social media. This account is purely entertaining and has no educational value what-so-ever. Its total mind numbing, sophomoric, and silly… but God help us, we like it. We hate ourselves for liking it, but we still like it. Take that for what its worth.

Gotta admit, that is a witty lower third on the video.

5: You Had One Job @_youhadonejob1

Key twitter stats: 4,061 Tweets, 254 Following, 301K Followers

Admittedly we stacked the deck here with another sinfully delightful entertaining Twitter account. Not specifically a car site, but many of the posts are car related. Designed to tickle your funny bone or make you shake your head in disbelief, the account tweets frequently. The tweets are sometimes witty, sometimes biting, but always captivating.

Knocked over like dominos.

If you follow twitter user that is car themed and provocative, let us know. We want in on the fun too.
