Get Ready for the Corvette Z06 Reveal

To say that Corvettes have always enjoyed certain anticipation would be an understatement. The most recently anticipated Corvette model is the higher-horsepower Z06 widebody Corvette that just recently, Chevrolet showed us what one would look like without all that camo.

The new Z06 image shared by Chevy shows much of the new car’s build, but the only way we’ve been able to enjoy the all-new engine is with our ears.

Before that, renderings, surmising, and downright guesses were gobbled up by a hungry host of enthusiasts seeking the next great thing to roll out of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Thankfully, Chevrolet has recently announced more information, not so much about the car itself, but where and when we could get the cold, hard facts directly from the manufacturer.

Chevrolet has a web page dedicated to the next best Vette yet, which we’re sure is going to be one of the most highly viewed spots on the web as all the information goes live. That is exactly what the bowtie plans to do on October 26, 2021, at noon (EDT). The video feed will include a short feature film focused on the higher-performing variant of the C8 Corvette.

After the short video, Chevrolet is reportedly hosting a panel discussion of individuals who will be speaking about their experience(s) with the new model. Of course, thanks to GM’s release of the initial image of the Corvette Z06’s wider body, we now have a good idea of what the finished car will look like. Thanks to a variety of folks with Photoshop skills, we even have seen what it looks like in various different colors. Thanks for that!

Which color would YOU choose for your new Z06?

Of course, we also hope to find out more about the possible Z07-equipped Z06, which is believed to be those high-wing variants we’ve seen carousing around the countryside in various camo forms.  Trying to hide that high wing would be akin to wrapping a hockey stick as a Christmas present, so we know there’s more to be known here.

What we REALLY want to know, is more about that naturally-aspirated V8 we’ve heard so much about, and even heard on various occasions in teaser videos. Carrying the LT6 moniker, it is supposed to employ dual-overhead cams in conjunction with that flat-plane crankshaft allowing it to wipe the tachometer with heavenly exhaust notes all the way to 8,500-9,000 rpm. Reportedly based upon Cadillac’s Blackwing engine, the sixth-generation engine serves as the beginning platform for engines utilizing further power-enhancing goods such as twin-turbos.

The next, next best engine to power Corvettes is believed to be the LT7 engine and is surmised to appear in both C8 ZR1 and Z8 Zora trim Corvettes. But first, we need to endure the next week until we can really wrap our heads around the more recent offering to ultimate enthusiasts. Of course, once we know all there seemingly is to know about the naturally-aspirated LT6 engine, the natural progression is to salivate over whatever might be hiding just over the horizon.

Thankfully, until then, we’ll have the then newly-revealed Z06 variant to keep our attention, as well as the myriad of sketches, concepts, photo-chops, and perhaps even a few videos or teasers from Chevy itself to keep our eyes scouring the horizon for another high-horsepowered dust cloud rising.
