General Motors especially had to reinvent themselves and as a result of their new direction, massively increased sales (11% overall, 16% in fleet sales), and renewed confidence, the marketing department has decided to try a new experiment with the states of Oregon and Washington.
The marketing exercise in question is adding the benefit of one year or 15,000 miles (whichever comes first) free car insurance with every new purchase of any new GM vehicle. We’ve run across this information courtesy of CNN.com.
The insurance promotion that was put together with the help of MetLife covers the owner and anyone who drives the car with the owner’s permission. If the car is stolen or totaled within the proposed time frame, it will either be replaced or repaired at no cost to the owner.
Liability and physical damage coverage is also included, both of which actually exceed the minimum requirements in the two states.
While many of you may be wondering why only Washington and Oregon have been selected for this program, according to GM spokesman Tom Henderson, those were the two slowest selling states in the country, and the automaker wants to see if this helps sales in those areas.
If the promotion proves to be a success, then it could spread to other parts of the country as well. Henderson also claims that owners can decline the insurance at the time of signing, but it will not reduce the price of the car at all.
With the auto giant quickly back on its way to the top with producing top-notch vehicles, we don’t know why any of those living in the Northwest wouldn’t jump on that offer. The promotion runs through Sept. 6th.
