The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association is known for its cool customs, exquisite hot rods and amazing shows, but this year the famous car association is offering a very special group of enthusiasts even more. That’s because they recently teamed up with the Ladies in Autosports Magazine (LIA) to offer women in the hot rodding industry the chance to compete for a special women’s only award at the upcoming 16th PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. So ladies start your engines and show the hot rodding community what you’re made of.
The LIA Magazine is a female-themed rod and custom magazine run and produced by West Lafayette, Indiana, photojournalists John and Julia Aschenberg. Dedicated to the females in the industry, the Aschenbergs decided that the PPG Nationals would be the perfect opportunity to honor one of the many women they aim to write for and about in their publication.
“We’re looking to present this award to a lady and her vehicle that is involved in this industry in one facet or another,” Julia Aschenberg told Goodguys. “This could be a lady who belongs to a local, state or national club; works for a company that is heavily involved in the industry; helps her significant other in the garage on her vehicle as well as others. She could be a welder, fabricator, upholster, painter, pin striper, etc. Our magazine is about promoting these ladies that are heavily involved in the automotive industry and hobby. This is what our LIA Magazine award represents when given to a lady owned vehicle!”
The LIA award will be given to an outstanding female hot rodder showing her car during the PPG Nationals held from July 12th through the 14th in Columbus. The Aschenbergs will start their selection process on Friday July 12th and announce the award winner in time for the selected female to be part of the Winner’s Circle and Goodguys award ceremony.
