HEMI Chargers A Go! New HEMI Gets Production Green Light

Our mole in Detroit tell us the return of the HEMI Charger is a go.

The HEMI Charger is coming back and from what we hear it will require a revamping of the hood to fit the supercharger!

We recently posted that the HEMI Charger could be making a comeback after learning new 5.7s, 6.4s and Hellcat V8s were scheduled for production in Dundee, Michigan. And the reason for that is the HEMI Charger project is a go. This is not some late-day April Fools joke, either.

If our source in the Motor City is correct, there will be two tailpipes from a Gen III HEMI coming out of the back of this car in the near future.

We know somebody who spoke to someone in the Dundee plant and he confirmed the HEMI Charger project is on. Yes, development work must be done and with the twin-turbo Hurricane I6 being rushed into production, we figure sellable models are probably two model years away, maybe three.

A lot must be done to fit the HEMI in the new platform, which was introduced recently as an all-electric vehicle. It arrived to the sound of one hand clapping. Even with two hair dryers on ICE, the faithful have not been moved. After all, Dodge’s most successful marketing for the past two decades has revolved around the HEMI.

From what we hear, the Charger will resume its natural place on the drag strip with a supercharged HEMI V8. The only question now is how long must we wait?

The Gen III HEMI has a massive fan base and Dodge sold hundreds of thousands of HEMI Chargers before the previous generation went out of production. Fans of the Charger (and the Challenger) have been flooding social media for months telling Stellantis it did not want an EV Charger. What they want is a V8, not an I6, even if it make great power.

We’ll keep you up to date if we hear more about this. We reached out to Stellantis for a reply and are awaiting an answer.

That thing got a HEMI in it? It should soon.
