Holcomb Motorsports is famous for their Civil Wars racing series held at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, and this coming weekend, September 21-23, they will hold the 17th Annual Fall Civil Wars event. With Friday and Saturday designated for qualifying sessions, Sunday will be the big day for eliminations, and lots of big names have been rumored to be attending – everyone wants to take advantage of the cooler fall weather and great track prep at The Rock.
The $3,500 guaranteed purse in Bullseye Power Outlaw 10.5 will draw racers like Tim Lynch, “Wild” Bill Devine, and Keith Jackson to the track in pursuit of the world record on 10.5 tires in the eighth-mile. There will be an Outlaw 275 class sponsored by Salvato Designs, handing off a $2,500 guaranteed purse to the winner who will come from a deep pool of the baddest 275 cars in the land.
Baer Brakes has stepped up to sponsor the X275 class, offering a whopping $5,000 guaranteed purse to the winner, and it has racers like Eric “Vader” McMillion and Eric Kenward promising to be on the premises chasing the weekend crown and cold hard cash.
There are also two other 275-style classes available, Ultimate Converters Real Street 275 D/R, which will pay out $2000 with a sixteen car field, and Holcomb Motorsports King Of The Street SR275, which also has a guaranteed purse of $2,000. X275 torch-bearer John Sears remarked on Yellowbullet, “275 Nationals! I love it! OL275, X275, SR275, and RS275. If you guys can’t find a place to get in where you fit in you must not want to race!” The Holcomb team is expecting a record turnout for the event as one of the last big races of the year.
In addition, Dynamic Transmissions is sponsoring the electronics bracket race on each day, while Holcomb Motorsports is sponsoring the Footbrake class, also taking place both days. There will even be Performance Automatic Open Comp and Holeshot Wheels 6.0 and 7.0 Index racers on the property. The inclusion of a two-day swap meet, vendor midway, and Show-N-Shine on Saturday make this a true three-day festival of horsepower.
