Hollywood Hot Rods’ SEMA Ford Mustang Convertible – Supercar Style!

Mustang-Hollywood

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about the SEMA show, it’s that every single car that’s on display is over-the-top in some way, designed to draw in showgoers to learn about each particular company’s product. So when our friends at Ford Racing turned us on to Hollywood Hot Rods‘ newest creation that’s destined for SEMA in just a few weeks, we had to get a closer look.

The car has been completely revamped to put the HHR touches on, and it’s nothing short of stunning. “We really wanted to take the customization of this Mustang to the next level,” said Troy Ladd, owner of Hollywood Hot Rods. “Instead of simply adding accessories and a custom paint job, we wanted to really change the car. “So we decided to redesign some key elements of the car, like the roof and rear section; to create a completely new and bold design that propels Mustang into supercar status while retaining classic Mustang DNA.”

The car features a supercharged 5.0L Coyote engine that makes an estimated 750 horsepower through the use of a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger and Banks Straight-Shot Water-Methanol injection system with IQ Man Machine interface. The suspension has been fully modified with a Cortex Racing X-Treme Grip track suspension to keep the car planted in the turns.

The real work went into the car’s looks, however, with a rear section that has been completely reshaped and a hand-formed aluminum lift-off roof. There’s a custom front splitter, side scoops, skits, and diffuser that have also been custom-fabbed out of aluminum to give the car a unique look that’s completely unique.

The look is nothing short of stunning, and we’re hoping to snag some more pictures of this fantastic machine at the SEMA show. It evokes the Mustang fastback of old, and gives the car a killer new shape for the final model year of the S197 chassis. This car isn’t all show, though, as Hollywood Hot Rods owner Troy Ladd plans to take the car to the Optima Challenge, which has a number of elements including Street Driving/Open Road/Rally, Autocross, Acceleration/braking, Road Course, and a Performance/Design competition. We may now have our first car to cheer for at the event, and will be curious to see how it fares.
