It’s always interesting when cars surpass their archaic initial purpose as a mode of transportation, and become something more. We’ve seen how vintage Cadillacs have become landscape, ’57 Chevys have served as furniture and even Corvette roadsters have become living room centerpieces. Somehow these cars have become so ingrained in our social psyche that they are more than just automobiles, but rather works of art, like art decco architecture and high fashion clothing.
Regular Fuel Magazine contributor, Craig Metros is keenly aware of this phenomenon. Cranking out art from his workshop, the “Industrial Artist” and Ford car designer from Detroit, his latest pieces were created for an annual event that Metros hosts at his workplace, the Ford of Australia R&D centre, in Campbellfield, Victoria, Australia. Metros explained, “Each year, we produce work for an art auction, from which all the proceeds go to juvenile diabetes research. The design guys at Ford Australia have produced some great work this year.”
His latest creations are this Gulf Ford GT and his ’31 Model A hot rod. If you want to see more of Craig’s work, go his website HERE.
