In the 8s: Stock Internal C7 Z06 Corvette Sets LT4 Record

There is no question the C7 Corvettes are fast. From the factory, these cars were equipped with the supercharged LT4 V8, which made 650 horsepower and 650 lb-feet of torque. This power level was able to push the seventh-gen Corvette to a 2.95 0-60 time and a top speed of 200 mph. The Vette is no slouch when it comes to the 1/4-mile either as it ran a 10.95 at 127 mph with the automatic transmission. While these numbers are certainly impressive, the team over at Advanced Modern Performance (AMP) wanted to push the envelope and see what the stock combination was good for with very few modifications.

In the way of performance mods, there’s not a lot to write about due to the nature of this build. The engine and supercharger in the yellow C7 are factory units. Rick at Synergy Motorsports did port the 1.7-liter blower for some added airflow. The 8-speed automatic transmission was built but still utilizes the factory torque converter. Carlyle Racing’s 15-inch rear brake conversion was used on the rear of the car giving the 15-inch Weld beadlocks enough clearance. On the front of the C7, you will find an AMP lightweight drag race front braking system. With these modifications, the Corvette’s race weight is 3440-pounds with the driver.

AMP C7 Z06 Mods:

  • Stock engine that came in the car new from GM in 2017
  • Stock cam, springs, lifters, pushrods, cylinder heads, head bolts, head gaskets, pistons, rods, and crankshaft
  • LT4 supercharger ported by Rick at Synergy
  • Built 8-speed auto with the stock torque converter.
  • Stock suspension with Caryle 15″ rear brake conversion
  • AMP drag race front brake system
  • 3440 lb race weight with driver
  • 50% E85
  • All boost, no nitrous
  • 21 lbs of boost
  • Driven to the track, raced, and driven back home

At the Texas Motorplex in Ennis Texas, the team was able to pilot the mostly stock Corvette into the 8-second zone with an 8.989 at 146.86 mph. Congratulations to AMP and crew on this new record.
