Our friends over at AmericanMuscle recently got an exclusive behind the scenes look at everything Ford Performance has to offer – from tunes to full-blown race-ready Mustang FP350S racecars.
In this episode of Hot Lap, Justin gets up close and personal with the new 2019 Mustang Bullitt as well as the Ford Performance Power Packs made specifically designed for use on manual and automatic 2015-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine.
The Ford Performance Power Pack comes in three different levels, each level is 50-state-legal under Carb EO# D-598-19.
Level One offers owners a 13 horsepower increase in addition to 16 lb-ft of torque with a substantial increase of 40 lb-ft at 1,500 RPM. This is accomplished by a high-flow K&N air filter, a Ford Performance ProCal tool, and a new calibration.
The Level Two Power Pack includes the same cold air intake and 87mm throttle body that is found as original factory equipment on the Shelby GT350. This cold air intake and throttle body combination dramatically improve airflow for an increase in power and performance. After installation, the car will have gained 21 hp and 24 lb-ft of torque, a massive gain of 40 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 RPM.
The Level Three Power Pack offers the most significant gains with the same intake manifold, cold air intake and 87mm throttle body that are found as original equipment on the Voodoo-powered Shelby GT350. With a high-flow design, this combination will dramatically improve airflow and give owners a 37 horsepower increase and another 60 horsepower at 7,500 RPM.
Each power pack level also comes with installation instructions and Ford proprietary software to assure peak performance and a no-lift shift strategy. Calibrations for automatic equipped Mustangs feature an optimized performance shift schedule to provide more aggressive shift points and firmness. The ProCal tool will also support rear ring, and pinion gear changes up to 4.09:1.
