They knew it was coming, and the masses have flocked to them asking for more. One thing that is very clear: the Pro-Touring scene is growing by leaps and bounds, and with front suspensions getting treated to a dose of attitude, the rear suspension was ready for it’s own attitude adjustment.
Always a company to find suspension solutions, Heidts Hot Rod & Muscle Car Parts answered the calling and began adding a bolt-in IRS system to complement their existing line of independent front suspension systems.
Heidts knew there was a real need for a beefy rearend and suspension package that could keep up with their award-winning IFS. The answer was a bolt-in IRS that could handle the kind of horsepower that today’s hot rods and muscle cars demand. It began with the Camaro, moved on to the Nova and the Tri-5 Chevy’s, and now Heidts has done it again with their new PRO-G IRS for the 1964-1/2 to 1970 Ford Mustangs.

"Slingblade" - a custom 1970 Mustang Mach 1 being built by Michael Young. Keep an eye out for it in an upcoming feature article.
We got to see what it looked like from Heidts social media pages, while it was going through their research and development stages. Then came time for the real world, and Heidts got us in touch with Michael Young, owner of Street Rods by Michael. He has been kind enough to share the complete install with us for his custom 1970 Mustang Mach 1 build that he calls “Slingblade”.
In an upcoming feature article, we’ll show the ins and outs of Heidts Pro-G Mustang IRS. We’ll give you the step by step installation of this complete bolt-in IRS system, as well as give you a peek of the rest of the car – which already has Heidts’ IFS front suspension kit installed.
