It’s Just the Baddest Nova in France

If the gendarmes in France had an equivalent to RoboCop, this would surely be his car. While working in Atlanta, a French citizen contracted muscle car flu and took it home with him. This ominous, black Chevy Nova is the result. Imported from Arizona and delivered to Le Havre, the 1972 coupe is still a work in progress.

While it was a compact car in its time here in North America, this Nova must be an awesome sight to see, particularly when coming at you on those narrow French roads. Between the matte black paint and the black powder coated allot wheels, this night stalker would do Officer Alex Murphy proud.

Already set up with a competition shifter and traction bars, there was likely some performance history to this car before it left the Grand Canyon state. Inside, the instrument panel has been replaced with a full complement of Auto Meter gauges and a Grant steering wheel.

Once in France, the current owner replaced the front seat with a pair of Cobra-style buckets and is looking to do the same in the back. Posting on Pro-Touring.com, the owner is hard at work fabbing his own Watts link for the car, and there’s a set of dropped spindles with tubular control arms waiting for the front end.

As fearsome as the Nova may look coming at you, its handling on those French roads must also be, well… inspiring.

You have to credit folks in Europe that take on muscle car projects. Parts must be challenging to source, particularly for the older cars and becoming familiar with import requirements would become second nature. As well, doing your own work is probably the only way to make it practical, unless there happens to be an American car specialist in your town or city.

Doubtless, there is more to come on this project, so if you want to follow along, jump on over to this thread on the Pro-Touring message board.
