If you’re going to try and make big power, a solid foundation from the start is a requirement. Louie Filippides and his team know this better than most, they have been able to push their 2010 Camaro hard with assistance from a Dart Machinery LS Next² block. With such a solid base, Filippides was able qualify number one, and get the win at the 2016 NMCA All-American Nationals in Xtreme Street.

The Farks Supercars-built Camaro started life as a SS packaged car with a six-speed transmission, and progressed exponentially from there. Filippides’s LSX-powered machine uses the LS Next² block in conjunction with a set of Black Label LS7 cylinder heads from Mast Motorsports, and one of their intake manifolds. The stout LSX bullet was assembled by the experts at Late Model Engines to handle the ProCharger F1-C 94 that moves all the boosted air into the Dart block, while a Cam Motion camshaft helps make the big horsepower possible. This combination has allowed Filippides to run consistently in the seven-second zone each time he takes his Camaro to the dragstrip.

The partnership with Dart came from the team’s hard work, and potential at the track. “We met with Richard Maskin from Dart Machinery at the 2015 PRI show, he really liked what he saw in our team. For the 2016 season Dart Machinery joined our program and supplied us with their great products. Dart’s LS Next² solid tall deck block is the foundation that successfully powers our Camaro,” Filippides explains.

Filippides plans to continue competing in the Xtreme Street class this season, and hopefully win the class championship.
