The LT engine’s popularity may not be on the same level as the LS, but it’s on the rise. As more and more of these engines find their way onto racetracks and in project vehicles, the more the performance aftermarket takes notice. Lunati has always been at the forefront of developing performance engine parts. So when the time came to tackle the LT, they jumped at the chance. While the company already has camshafts, rods, and timing sets for the Gen V engines, they were missing a high-performance crankshaft from the lineup, but not anymore.
Lunati’s latest offering is a crankshaft explicitly built for the new Gen V LT1, L83, and L86 engines from GM. These crankshafts were designed to increase engine stroke, increasing displacement, horsepower, and torque. Each unit is available in either a 4.000-inch or 4.125-inch stork with a long or short snout configuration.
According to Lunati, “All of Lunati’s Gen V crankshafts feature a contoured wing and are fully detailed to reduce windage and regain horsepower from parasitic losses. The cranks are nitrided and utilize micro-polished journals to improve lubricity and strength for extreme performance applications. The 0.125″ radii journals also increase strength and power capability.”
Lunati also gun-drills the cranks to reduce weight. Angled rod lightening holes also help reduce rotating mass for the max in horsepower potential and weight savings.
If your not sure if you need a long or short snout version, we can help. The long snout is built for 2014 Corvette Z51s with the 6.2-liter LT1 with a dry-sump oil system. The snort snout cranks are used for the same Corvettes without the Z51 option and 2014 Chevrolet and GMC trucks utilizing L86 and L83 powerplants.
