Magna Charger Introduces Coyote Supercharger

Magna Charger has been at the forefront of forced induction for late model vehicles for years, so it was no surprise when they unveiled a new supercharger system for the 2011 Mustang 5.0 at this year’s SEMA show. Built around either a Magnuson Products MP1900 or MP2300 TVS supercharger, in initial testing they’ve gotten 485 horsepower to the rear wheels, with more on tap.

The superchargers use Eaton’s four lobe, high helix TVS rotors, similar to those in Chevy’s LS9 and LSA engines found in the Corvette ZR-1 and Cadillac CTS-V, and an equal-length runner intake manifold that incorporates an air-to-water intercooler. Under part-throttle operation, a bypass valve takes the compressor stage out of the loop for economical operation and less wear on the engine.

The Mustang kit includes new fuel injectors and all the components necessary for installation, and programming of the ECU is via a hand-held flash tuner. We asked about those cool coil covers – no, they aren’t included (they’re custom one-off pieces made just for the display car) but interest has been high enough that Magna Charger is considering making them an option for production kits.

Magna Charger is so confident in their systems that not only do they provide a standard 3-year limited warranty on the supercharger itself, but they also offer an optional powertrain warranty that covers most engine, transmission, and rear axle components for up to $8,000 over 5 years/100,000 miles for cars still under the factory warranty, and three different levels of coverage for used vehicles with less than 60k currently on the clock.
