Last week we showed you the Impala, Nova, Chevelle, and Camaro that garnered the highest bids at this year’s Mecum Kissimmee, Florida, auction. While that is great and all, those high-price cars don’t do much for most people. Not everyone has an extra $100,000 to throw on a show car they are probably not going to drive that often. So, we got to thinking; “What’s at the other end of the spectrum”? The four cars we are looking at today fall into the price range that most people can afford with a little time spent saving. Check out these four awesome cars that all sold for under $15,000.
This split bumper, Z28-badged base model Camaro could have been yours for just $14,000. Featuring driver-quality paint and the original interior, it might not be a show stopper, but it’ll always be a head turner. The small-block 350 cubic-inch engine and automatic transmission would make it practical to drive on a regular basis, and the air conditioning would make it comfortable even on 80 degree summer days. You don’t typically get a lot for only $14,000, but we think that this is a great deal at that price.
Who in their right mind wouldn’t own this Corvette?! This car features a high horsepower big-block 454 cubic-inch engine, but still has the convenience of an automatic transmission. It also features a modest – and recently done, nice and clean Patriot Pearl Red paintjob.
This was also the only year that featured the rubber front bumper and chrome rear bumper. This would make a great car for a Sunday driver, and this Corvette could have been yours for only $12,500.
A different car than the other two that we looked at, this Nova was built with performance in mind. It features a 406 cubic inch small-block engine with a steel crankshaft, Dart cylinder heads, and a 700R4 automatic transmission. The fuel tank has even been replaced with a fuel cell. Custom bright yellow paint and a cowl induction hood even make this car look fast. It could have been yours for a price under $10,000 at only $8,750.
Not only is this the least expensive car we’re highlighting, it could also be the coolest. The Chevrolet Impala is one of the best looking cars ever made, and 1966 was a banner year. This two-door hardtop sports black paint with white striping, white interior, and custom wheels. It is a really nice driver-quality car, that will always stand out at any show. Not only great to look at, it only has 24,285 miles on the odometer, and features a small-block engine and automatic transmission. This car could have been yours for the low price of only $7,500. We think that’s a steal.
These cars are just four examples of an entire price class that is sold at every Mecum auction. Their auctions are not just for the well-off, nearly anyone can save up a little money and walk away with a great classic car. Would you have paid the sale price for any of these cars?
