Ford Performance recently released two new high-performance crate engines, providing powerful options for car enthusiasts.
Megazilla 2.0: A Monster Built for Competition
First up is the Megazilla 2.0. A heavily modified 7.3-liter V8, exclusively designed for off-road and competition use. Atop this engine sits a large 3.0-liter Gen 6 Whipple supercharger, and it represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
The new Megazilla now boasts strong internal components such as forged pistons and connecting rods, and a robust steel crankshaft, all of which help in withstanding extreme performance demands. The original Megazilla (PN M-6007-MZ73) was a 10.5:1 compression n/a version that made 612 hp and 670 lb-ft of torque with a factory crank, MAHLE pistons, and Callies H-beam rods. So expect even more robust internals to hold up at 1,000hp.
Additionally, the engine heads are ported and polished, and Ford upgraded the valve springs to ensure greater durability. The Megazilla 2.0 is projected to deliver more than 1,000 horsepower, making it a suitable choice for vehicles such as desert race trucks and dedicated drag cars.
Supercharged Coyote V8: Street-Legal Powerhouse
Joining the Megazilla is the supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8. A street-legal powerhouse based on the Mustang Dark Horse’s powerplant. A key feature of this engine is its 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, and it also includes a retuned powertrain control module.
Ford anticipates this engine will produce over 800 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, offering a balance of power on both the street and the track. Moreover, it features an available two-year or 24,000-mile limited warranty, providing an added layer of security for buyers.
Both of these new crate engines facilitate straightforward installation, with a control pack harness simplifying the process for builders. The engine also utilizes parts proven in Ford’s racing programs, and enthusiasts can use them in a variety of project vehicles.
Customers can order both engines in the fourth quarter of 2025. They can either contact Ford dealers or go directly from Ford Performance Parts. With the release of these crate engines, Ford Performance has offered another path to vehicle customization that allows owners to substantially increase their car’s performance.
What are you thoughts about these two crate engines? Are you ready to handle the additional power?
