This 1937 pro-street Chevy Truck belongs to Tony Richardson of Kingston, Washington. It’s been heavily modified and Richardson did all of the work himself, outsourcing only the paint to Kingston Collision. He went for a dulled cobalt blue color, “I wanted a sort of glow, as opposed to a shine,” Richardson told us.
Along with the custom cobalt blue paint, it has a 3-½ inch chop, 8-inch tubs, and the rear fenders have been cut and raised five inches to accommodate the 33×22.5 tires. Richardson also made custom brake light enclosures and a third, center brake light beneath the back window.
To further the custom look and feel of the car, he used a Toyota Tacoma tailgate, one-piece hood, license plate recess from a ’70s Ford van, and a Mustang II front suspension. The front bumper skirt is another one of Richardson’s hand made additions to the car. “They make those for the cars, but not the trucks,” he explained. “So I had to make it myself.”
Powering this custom street-truck is a 383 cubic inch stroker engine, Edelbrock 750cfm carburetor, turbo 350 transmission, and a Ford 9-inch posi-traction rear end with a 4.11:1 gear ratio. The open sided hood proudly displays the engine at all times, in true hot-rod fashion.
