Finland is a country known for being cold, as are her people. That is, at least until you get to know them. While the Finnish may seem standoffish at first, they warm up after a few drinks and a good conversation, especially if that conversation involves cars. Despite living a country where average temperatures can dip to -50 C and where gas prices can approach $10 a gallon, the Finnish have a deep love for American muscle cars, as demonstrated in the above video.
The veritable parade of muscle machines from the Rekola area of the capital, Helsinki, shows the wide variety of love the Finns have for classic V8 power. Can you identify all the classic muscle cars in this burnout parade?
This isn’t your typical classic car show to be sure, with the Finns casting a wide net of just what classifies as a muscle car. The Plymouth Gran Fury police car that rolls in at the beginning of the video, for example, definitely packs a non-stock motor under the hood. But considering it’s the epitome of 1970s automotive bloat, it’s not the kind of car you’d typically expect to come across at an American muscle car show. It is, however, authentically American, which is probably all that matters.
There are more traditional hot rods and muscle cars in the mix though, including plenty of Mopars (the Finns seem to have a particular fondness for Chrysler) such as the Coronet, Satellite, and Charger. There’s also a few older classics mixed in, as well as some newer ones, including a 1980s Monte Carlo. Sure, it stands out with its demure black paint job among a see of brightly-colored Mopars, but there’s no denying the passion for American muscle that these Finnish enthusiasts have.
