Unwanted cabin noise is just that–unwanted! Hopped-up hot rods can often have quite a bit of it, and the guys at Design Engineering have come up with the solution in the form of their Boom Mat product. It’s a damping material that helps to seal interior holes along with absorbing unwanted noise.
Official Release:
Every vehicle has a unique acoustic signature caused by the combination of engine noise and modifications. Boom Mat damping material greatly enhances cabin acoustics, reducing vibration and noise that can interfere with a quiet ride and quality stereo performance. Developed primarily to eliminate low frequency noise, Boom Mat damping material works by sealing interior holes and leaks and damping structure born noise. Boom Mat now offers its quality damping material in a convenient 30 sheet pack of 12-1/2” x 24”; large enough to complete the interior of a large SUV, wagon or van.
Boom Mat damping material is made with a viscoeslastic polymer layer protected by a durable aluminum wear surface that is resistant to extreme heat or cold. It improves sound quality by absorbing unwanted noise and sound waves from road and engine noise while dampening vibrations that surround audio output. It can be used for interior surfaces– floor, door skin, trunk, roof; any vertical or horizontal interior surface. Extremely flexible and easy to trim, simply peal and stick in the desired location including metal, plastic or fiberglass. Boom Mat’s high performance adhesive ensures a durable, long-lasting fit wherever it is placed; especially in areas with contours and bends, or vertical locations like a car door.
Boom Mat damping material is also available in a 2, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 20 pack option; small enough for damping of speakers or enough sheets to outfit an entire full size vehicle. To learn more about Boom Mat damping material, visit Boom Mat’s Science of Noise.
