Speedway Motors Is Making Non-Conventional LS Swaps Much Easier

LS swaps

The Speedway Motors Mock-Up Block is an essential tool for anyone tacking on LS swaps.

If you’re in the early stages of any out-of-the-ordinary LS swaps, do you know how you’re going to mock-up the engine placement? Sure, there are kits available for traditional swaps that will place the engine where it needs to be, but many enthusiasts are getting away from “traditional.” Thanks to Speedway Motors, properly placing that engine just got a whole lot easier with the LS Mock-Up Block (PN: 91089660).

When we first found out about this skeletonized mock-up block we instantly knew it would be perfect for not only placing the mounting points in your custom ride, but it would also make a cool centerpiece in the mancave. Talk about something that will start a conversation! Anyway, it is compatible with all LS engine bolt-ons such as intake manifolds, headers, oil pan, timing cover, water pump, and accessory brackets. This makes positioning or fabricating engine mounts a breeze.

The mock-up block comes in two configurations, a short-block and a long-block. The short-block version weighs in at a mere 18 pounds while the long-block comes in at 35 pounds. In other words, it can be lifted in and out of the vehicle for mock-up by one person without the need for an engine hoist. That’s a convenience we can all utilize.

The mock-up block replicates all LS Gen III and Gen IV engine applications such as LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7, LSA, and Vortec truck engines of the 4.8-, 5.3-, 6.0-, and 6.2-liter varieties.

The heavy-duty 12-gauge steel construction is designed to last practically forever, unlike previously designed foam versions which can often suffer damage from thread inserts pulling out of the foam core.

Long-block version comes with bolt-on fabricated steel mockup heads and the short-block version accepts all factory and aftermarket LS heads.
