Hardcore car folk see booth models as something completely different – the sexy vehicles and not the ladies! While both take a lot of work (and sometimes money) to make them look good, it is a lot easier to cater your taste to a vehicle. To go along with any good vehicle build is a good set of rubber, and there were two vehicles that caught our attention in the Nitto Tire booth.
First up was a beautiful, satin gray 2010 Camaro. The tires featured on this Camaro were Nitto’s Invo, which is an ultra-high performance tire that features the best of all worlds – performance, ride refinement, and quality. State-of-the-art computer engineering and digital audio testing equipment produced a tread pattern that reduces perceived road noise, provides excellent comfort, and delivers exceptional traction in both dry and wet conditions. The result is a tread pattern that is unique and functional. The treadwear comes in at 260 for W speed tires and 220 on the Y speed tires. The rear tires on the Camaro where measured at 285/30/22 while the fronts were 265/30/22.
The other vehicle in Nitto’s booth would be non other than the ultra popular 2011 Mustang 5.0. Though this is not any Mustang though, this is Steeda’s supercharged Q650 StreetFighter. The Q650 was wearing Nitto’s highest performing summer performance tire, the NT05.
The design of the NT05 stems back to 2007 from when the first ideas were conceived. Working through nearly two years, Nitto released the NT05 at the 2009 SEMA Show. They now currently offer about 25 different sizes. The initial sizes developed for the NT05 went after the current popular vehicles like the Challenger, Mustang (1994 to current), 2010 Camaro, WRX, Evos, BMW series, to name a few. Nitto prides themselves in being one of the few (if only) that offers a summer performance tire in this range for 20-inch wheel equipped vehicles. It features a sticky 200 treadwear compound and stiff sidewalls that reduce flex when cornering. The front consists 275/35/20 while the rears sport a meaty 315/35/20.
