The National Muscle Car Association, along with series sponsor Flowmaster, announced their 2015 series schedule late last week, featuring six events at six of the top drag racing venues around the midwest and the eastern United States. The cars and stars of the NMCA will join the NMRA all-Ford contingent twice during the season, at the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals in Atlanta and at the seasons’ most prestigious event, the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing at the Route 66 Raceway near Chicago.
The 2015 schedule is highlighted by a number of date and venue changes from years prior, all of which will series officials hope will play into their favor with improved weather conditions at each stop along the way. The season will kick off at its usual opener at the Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida, followed by the All-Star Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. From there, the series will return to the fabled Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky after a brief hiatus from the traditional series venue. A major change from 2014, the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis will move to mid-season, with a June 18-21 date. That event will also include the Chevrolet Performance Shootout.
The series will then turn to the Super Bowl in Chicago, before wrapping up the year at a new venue for the NMCA World Street Finals: the always-quick Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. In an effort to avoid the cold temperatures and rainy conditions that have plagued the season finale, the Norwalk event will be contested on August 27-30, nearly six weeks earlier than the traditional close to the season.
