Let’s face it, the world is in a weird place right now. It seems Americans are divided on almost every issue, and no I’m not talking about Chevy vs. Ford. Some would say it’s more difficult now than ever to find common ground with your fellow man or woman. The point, however, is that for us car people, there’s always that one thing that unites us – the love of our rides. The appreciation for beautiful design. The loud chop of a cammed big block. The huge smile you get when your favorite song is blasting and the wind and sun are washing over you as you cruise along the highway.

If you’re a car person, these are universally loved things that you’ve enjoyed and probably shared with others – no matter age, race, sex, or status.

Of course, Project Phoenix had to come out and play. Stay tuned for more project updates. (Photo by Jim Dorsey Photography)
So, it’s with a similar smile and zeal that I pen this recap of a gathering that sought to do just that. This past Sunday, June 7th, the folks at Performance Online did So Cal hot rodders a huge solid by putting on the first Circle City Cruise. The route took us from Dos Lagos over Temescal Canyon, passing by Lake Matthews, and ending in a local parking lot to hang out and check out some killer rides.

A local ice cream vendor even stopped by to check out the cool cars and sell some delicious ice cream on the warm day.
People stood around, told jokes, and took pictures. They discussed future mods, and frankly, just enjoyed each other’s company in the presence of some spectacular cars. There was no discussion of politics or pandemics. Unless, of course, they were arguing over carburetion vs. fuel injection. But really, it was just a bunch of good people enjoying some fresh air, beautiful weather, and even more beautiful cars.

Our buddy Chris Plump from American Racing Wheels made it out. Check out his killer original big-block 396ci ’71 El Camino!
All told, there were tons of cars that showed up, and it was a great get together. Check out the gallery of some of our favorite cars that showed up. And, of course, check out the Performance Online website to find out about any more cruises on the way – you’re not going to want to miss the next one!
