Petersen Automotive Museum Set To Reopen March 25th, 2021

The Petersen Automotive Museum is set to reopen to the public on Thursday, March 25th, 2021.  The museum with have new exhibits, new vehicles, and a new schedule. The new hours will be from 10am to 5pm Wednesday through Sunday. To help show their gratitude to all the front line, first response workers that worked through these difficult times, the museum will offer verified health care workers and all first responders complimentary admission. This is good for themselves as well as up to three immediate family members. This deal is good the rest of 2021.

The museum will take all strides to follow all of the health and safety guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the state of California, and the county of Los Angeles to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.  All staff members as well as all visitors will be required to wear a face mask while in the building. Social distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet apart will be strictly enforced. There is also be designated entrance and exit signs, as well as, designated navigation paths for each exhibit. The museum staff will also increase the frequency of routine cleaning. They will also offer hand sanitizing stations on each floor. Unfortunately, the interactive exhibits such as the Forza racing simulators and the Discovery Center will still remain closed at this time.

“We are excited to welcome visitors back to the museum in a safe and responsible manner,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “We cannot thank the healthcare personnel and first responders enough for everything they have done for our community. We hope this small token of our appreciation signals how grateful we are to them and their families.”

During the closure, the Petersen Automotive Museum successfully virtually launched three exhibits. These included: “Supercars: A Century of Spectacle and Speed,” which showcased the evolution of the super car, “Extreme Conditions,” which highlighted 11 custom competition, recreational, and utilitarian off-roading vehicles, and “Redefining Performance,” which featured Porsche’s most innovative road and race vehicles.  Other amazing exhibits that are currently on display include “Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy,” “Reclaimed Rust: The James Hetfield Collection.” As well as, “Building an Electric Future” which is presented by Volkswagon.

All tickets must be pre-purchased. Online tickets will go live on Tuesday March 16th, 2021 at 6pm PST. In order to receive complimentary access, health car personnel and first responders will need to reserve tickets online and provide a physical copy of verification at the museum check in.
