PRI 2011: Become A Track Star - Limited Edition FII Roadster

Part of hot rodding is creating, designing, and driving some of the most unique vehicles around. Add in some one-off custom items, a potent mill, and a track-ready chassis and it’s sure to be a hoot. Well, if that sounds interesting, we’ve found exactly that while shuffling around the floor of the 2011 PRI show this year. To up the ante, it’s one of only fifty limited-edition FII Roadsters built on the last of the all-aluminum Shelby Series 1 frames. Once they’re gone, that’s it!

That said, FII Roadsters are available to the public. FII had the wherewithal and acquired the last of the all-aluminum Shelby Series 1 frames. FII then incorporated race proven components and systems to bring you this amazing supercar. That’s not all either, these vehicles are completely street legal, which means you can enjoy them on the track or even during a car-show cruise in your local area.

Using the all-aluminum chassis as a platform, the team of aerospace engineers, designers, machinist, and technicians have re-engineered it to accommodate a front mounted 427 Ford FE married to a RBT ZF type 5-speed transaxle. This not only allowed the FII Roadster to keep a perfect, 50/50 front/rear weight distribution, but opened the door to providing the driver a balanced chassis with unsurpassed performance. This powerful roadster can go head-to-head with the best.

Each FII Roadster body is a custom hand-crafted coach and filters in that vintage 60’s era look with all of the technology from the 21st century. The FII Roadster even gets power steering and a working A/C system. work bring back the ‘60s look with 2010 technology – including power steering and A/C.

For the open air enthusiast who does not fit in the classic or late model sports car,it’s also been designed to comfortably accommodate a 6 foot 9 inch, 270 lb driver with the most cockpit room of any sports car on the market. This 2,400 lb car with Robert Pond Motor Sport 427 can easily break the 4 sec. 0 to 60 mark and will top out at over 180…with the A/C on. Interested? FII Roadsters has designed the suspension, motor, and drive train system for the legendary 427 Ford FE Side Oiler yielding a Weight /Power Ratio of 5.14 :1 with the FII version of Robert Pond’s power plant. Customs ceramic coated headers with stainless steel pipes, muffler ,and heat shield.
