RideTech friend, Goldberg, in his wife's newly finished '70 Trans Am, which she ran during the Optima race on Saturday. Stay tuned for the Tigercage installation video on this car later this year.
We’ve got to give credit where credit is due. Bret Voekeyl is no stranger to the hot rodding world. Voelkel’s no-nonsense approach to hot rodding has put him in the seat as King of aftermarket suspension components. Rightly so, considering this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada was Voekeyl’s 25th attendance since 1987…Whoa!
Speaking from experience, Voelkel’s a car-guy; no doubt, and considering he’s the front-man for RideTech it’s no wonder. I’ve had the opportunity to sit and chop it up with Bret before, and I cant tell you with certainty, Voelkel’s got an eye on the industry and confidently produces some of the world’s greatest parts. We honestly can’t wait to see what the future holds for RideTech. It keeps getting better and better.
This years SEMA Show was packed full of noteworthy vehicles and included 73 vehicles equipped with RideTech suspension components. For those of you who weren’t able to attend this years showcase, Brett Voelkel was there, too; providing full days of his own personal coverage of the event. Brett personally put his penmanship to work and wrote about every day and what was going on with the RideTech crew. Check out the cool rides and Voelkel’s first-person view of all the SEMA action.
We’ve got five full days of coverage from the man himself; Bret Voelkel..take a look!
Day 1
While Voelkel’s first day was left for setting up the booth and meeting with customers, Voekeyl did take note of all the fresh sights. “There must be well over 1,000 display vehicles this year. The lots outside the buildings look like a Wal-Mart parking lot at Christmas!” Yeah, there were tons and tons of cars around. If you weren’t careful, you could very well turn around and run right into one. Read Online.
Jf Launier's '57 Chevy sports a big-block and an automatic...and is ran during the Optima Challenge on Saturday. Maybe an unlikely combination, but he ran a similar setup last year and did well. Mark Rife's '63 'Vette with an LS7 swap, C4 suspension, and RideTech's triple adjustable coilovers. Mark also ran his car during the Optima event on Saturday.
Day 2
Voelkel did take note in the increased number of Late model Camaros and older Mustangs. “The big thing here this year seems to be the new Camaro and Old Mustangs,” and quipped, “Glad our Gen 5 Camaro system will be done shortly!” Voelkel was also glad to see that attendance for this years SEMA Show seemed to be up this year and was told buyer registration is up by twenty percent. Day 3 & 4
If you’ve never been to SEMA, than it’s hard to explain how much walking is actually done. There really is that much to see. As Voelkel states, “Unless you want to use the toilet, you’ll be on your feet for 12-18 hours per day. By now I can see hundreds of people sitting on the floor against the wall. It looks like a snowed in airport!”
While Wednesday was filled with filming eight customer testimonials, Thursday was left for announcing the final ten participants in the Optima race on Saturday while Friday was mostly spent packing up and heading out to Pahrump for the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge. Read Online.
Day 5
The final day was the week included Voelkel’s day at the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge. Of course, it’s probably the best coverage out for it yet. For more of the details on this outrageous event, you’ll have to check out the links below each day’s summary. Read Online.
The RideTech 48 Hour Camaro was a true performer. Voelkel even wrote the times of the car on the fender. There's really no scaring this guy!
