This incredible 1970 Mach 1 Mustang, located in the BASF booth here at SEMA, is one the more anticipated rides that was well-promoted in the lead-up to the show this week. Owned by Jack Alex Stoner and Jayne Roorda from Arizona and known as the “Dragon,” this restored classic Pony is the handiwork of the renowned Ring Brothers who are known for their creativity and precision craftsmanship.
Under the hood of this immaculate ride, you’ll find a Roush-prepared, fuel-injected 427R engine that produces right around 650 horsepower, with a dry sump oil system and backed by a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission transferring the power to a Ford 9″ rear end housing. Up front, you’ll find a Ron Davis dual aluminum fan. A complete, high-end overhaul of the suspension gives this car a truly badass, low-slung stance, thanks to a custom billet front suspension setup, a Detroit Speed QUADRALink four-link in the rear, and Penske shocks all the way around. Peering out from beneath the fenders is a set of Forgeline billet wheels, measuring 12×19″ in the rear and 10×18″ in the front. Behind the wheels, you can see a set of Baer brakes to give this quick piece some impressive stopping power to match it’s get-up-and-go.
Inside, you’ll find a completely custom interior that is modeled after that of a Ford GT, with a full Alpine touch screen stereo. Finishing off this venomous Mach 1 is the paint, with the primary color – fittingly called Dragonblood – giving it its sinister appearance. The accent color is Castle Grey, matching the custom Forgeline wheels.
