Back in 1983, Ididit founder and owner Ken Callison started machining parts for his street rod, and friends began to request parts for their own cars from this talented machinist. By 1985 Ken and his son Scott were in a steadily growing business making steering columns and custom parts for the street rodding community.
New this year and introduced at SEMA is the 1967-69 Mopar B-body steering column. Vice President Scott Callison said, “This is a direct bolt-in collapsible column that includes wiring, levers, floor mount grommet and even the turn signal cam.” What’s even better about this column is that you no longer have to switch columns if you’re converting from a manual gear box to power, because the steering shaft will slide to make up the 2 inch difference in shaft length.
The housing is finished in steel, and can be painted to match your interior, and is also available in chrome or black powder coating. If you have a specific color in mind Ididit has a program where they can send you the housing to be finished, and then when you send it back to them they can assemble the column afterwards. Their line of steering columns is quite extensive, from replacement columns to custom columns for street rods and hot rods.
The Touch-n-Go keyless ignition system has been taken a step further to provide you with up to four programmable options. These options can be to open a trunk, lock and unlock the doors, or even roll down a window, to name a few.
The system works by using a key fob with a transmitter and when you are within range of your vehicle it activates the ignition circuit. The push button start can be mounted in dash or on the column, and now has different lighting to indicate which program mode you’re in. Callison said, “We plan to have a Touch-n-Go keyless start system within a year,” so keep an eye out for that.
