MAHLE’s new late-model Dodge/Chrysler Hemi drop-in replacement piston assembly is giving Hemi fans some long awaited options.
These assemblies eliminate the need for balancing or tuning changes.

“We wanted to offer a drop-in forged piston that did not change the compression for our Hemi customers,” says MAHLE’s Trey McFarland. “We already supply OE pistons to the manufacturer, which are designed and cast based on OE manufacturer’s specifications.”
What the Hemi fanatics have been missing is a drop-in forged piston… until now.
“This forged piston assembly is not only designed to be a direct drop-in for the cast pistons, but we’ve also matched the same weight as the stock cast piston by utilizing a heavier wrist pin,” claims McFarland.
With the weight of the assembly closely matching the stock OE piston, and the same compression ratio whether you are using the 6.1 or 6.4 cylinder heads, “These assemblies eliminate the need for balancing or tuning changes,” McFarland explains.
“Machined on our PowerPak slipper-skirt forgings, these drop-in pistons include repositioned and thicker ring lands. They will handle all the power that you throw at it,” says McFarland.
MAHLE’s new drop-in pistons are offered as complete PowerPak piston assemblies (pistons, pins, clips and a MAHLE performance ring set) or as piston sets without rings allowing the use of the standard OE rings.
“One area that we have never really promoted or bragged about is our very tight manufacturing tolerances,” says McFarland. “We manufacture our own finishing machines and equipment, which means the repeatability of producing the same piston dimensions time after time is tightly controlled.”
