When it comes to modifying a car, it usually doesn’t take much to create a highly noticeable change. The trick while making some of these modifications is to make the change subtle enough that it goes almost unnoticed. That is exactly what the guys at Adept Classic and Performance have done with their all-new ’69 Camaro bodies. In case you can’t tell from the images, these new bodies feature a “wide body” conversion, where the rear quarter-panels are extended outward from the body. In this case, the rear of the car is five inches wider than stock. Dave Mars, the man that assembles the bodies said, “The body is assembled from all-new pieces, then we assemble them and install the wider rear quarter-panels.”
Before you start to think that these are only a race-oriented body – which they can be used that way – just imagine how cool a wide body ’69 Camaro driving on the street will look! We can’t wait to hear from the guys that start building cars using this body. Dion Taylor of Adept said, “We see guys wanting to build a pro-touring style car using them. The extra width makes fitting larger tires underneath so much easier.”
Fitting those wide stickies under the rear wheel wells shouldn’t be hard, as these bodies will accept any rear suspension that attaches at the factory locations. One thing we do want to let you know is that the wide body does require the use of a modified bumper. However, this isn’t a major issue, because if you can’t modify your own, Adept can supply that as well.
So there you have it – a wide body ’69 Camaro that comes to you already assembled, all you need to do is contact Adept Classic and Performance.
