If they invented a time machine, we’d like to go back to the hazy days of West Coast hot rodding and kustoms in sunny So Cal. This was a fertile and creative time for car culture and Mooneyes was literally at ground zero of the scene.
The good news is you really don’t need a time machine. You can just check out Mooneyes website or cruise over to the store located in So Cal and be transported back to a simpler, cooler time.
If you’ve never heard of them, Mooneyes products and logos are an indelible part of hot rod nostalgia, easily recognizable to gearheads and novices alike. They take pride in producing high quality products that look great and get the job done right.
According to Mooneyes, “We produce Moon tanks, Moon discs, and valve covers right on site in our machine shop. We also supply various parts and accessories for hot rods, rat rods, and kustom creations, as well as an expanding line of motorcycle products.”
We were smitten with the candy coated metal flake steering wheels in all shapes and sizes, even hexagon, which has been a big hit for the company. Also new are steering wheels with finger grips on the back of the rim.
For you Ed “Big Daddy” Roth fans, you wont be disappointed. Mooneyes always has a cool selection of Rat Fink memorabilia. We especially dug the big, fully painted models of the rascally rodent, beer can and all…
Let’s not forget valve covers, air cleaners, little gas tanks and of course, Mooneyes and Moon Equipped stickers and t-shirts.
Still at the same place where it all started back in the 1950s, Mooneyes is located in Santa Fe Springs, California. All visitors are welcome! Come on in, say hello, and be sure to ask for a shop tour. Go here for more coolness.
