With the next generation of V-series models hitting showrooms next year, Cadillac wants to send the current generation CTS-V out with a bang. A special edition CTS-V Coupe will be released in the second half of 2014 and the production will be limited to just 500 examples.
According to GM’s press release, the special edition coupe will pack the same 556 horsepower LSA engine, Brembo brakes, and Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control. The interior remains virtually the same, but is garnished with ebony leather with red contrast stitching, Recaro performance seats, metal pedals, Midnight Sapele wood trim, and a microfiber suede-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
While buyers have the option of ordering the car in Crystal White, Black Diamond ($995 extra) and Phantom Gray, the exterior is finished off with a dark-finish V grille, satin graphite wheels and red brake calipers.
Transmission options are still going to be the 6-speed manual, or the automatic transmission. Other choices include a sunroof, which is a $700 option – might as well order the whole shebang, right? Base price for the special edition V-Coupe has not been released yet, but will be announced closer to launch.
“The special edition is a stepping stone to the next-generation V-Series, which will move to the next level with more dynamic design and technical sophistication,” stated Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac’s marketing chief. With that being said, we can’t wait for the new generation of V-series vehicles. If you happen to be a V-series enthusiast or collector, this would definitely be a nice specimen to add to the collection.
