Street Hunter USA Unveils Corvette C8 Widebody Kit

While some performance manufacturers have their eyes set on figuring out the C8 Corvette’s tuning issues, others are working on products to differentiate the visual aspects of the new mid-engine sports car. One company that dove in headfirst on a wild widebody kit is Street Hunters USA. A few months ago, we did a quick news item on this kit, and while it was just a rendering at that time, the company just completed its first installation, and we have to say, it looks pretty wild.

We’ve never been big fans of widebody or body kits in general. Most of the time, these products don’t fit well and leave a lot to be desired with additional bodywork and preparation in order to look good on a vehicle. Another problem commonly associated with these units is the lack of ground clearance after they are installed. However, the video looks like the Street Hunter C8 widebody isn’t built in that typical fashion. If you go back a few videos, you can see the kit being fitted before paint, and it lines up very well with the C8 Corvette’s body lines right out of the box. Another nice addition is the amount of room under the carbon fiber front lip added to the car. So even though the vehicle will be lowered, it looks like there will be enough room to clear some obstacles associated with day-to-day driving.

Unlike other widebody kits of the past, the Street Hunter C8 kit doesn’t use external hardware to attach the wide fenders and flares. Instead, the hardware is incorporated into the backside of the components giving it a super clean, almost factory look.  Plus, the massive carbon fiber wing looks right at home with the widebody due to the material and the added width on the Corvette. Another nice touch is the rear carbon fiber diffuser that gives the C8 an even more aggressive look, along with the extended boomerangs on the car’s sides.

While there’s no pricing on the Street Hunter website at this point, we can assure you that this kit will be expensive. Just a C8 carbon fiber front lip from the company comes in at $1,450. And with the fit and finish of this kit, we fully expect it to go north of $7,000. But if you’re down to make your C8 a wide-looking supercar, then this kit is for you.
