Moving boxes of parts around the garage today, and I came across the next project we will be working on in earnest. Air Ride Suspension for our Project Swinger Nova. We decided to take a closer look at the parts as we moved the boxes. Let me give you a little preview of this project without spilling too much:
Our Nova is a 1971 second generation Nova that is getting an LSX3 Powerplant and air ride suspension. We plan on this car being a nice road race/autocross car. Although the car came stock with the legendary small block 350, the Novas were notoriously bad for handling. Lots of power, poor handling. The LSX engine combined with the air ride suspension will boost the power and improve the handling greatly.
AIR RIDE
Included in the Air Ride Street Challenge systemis a really sleek spindle.
Compared to the weak and bulky stock piece, this one looks like Kate Moss but acts like Jean-Claude Van Damme. Delicate it’s not, but sleek it is.
Tom and I noticed a lot of difference in the Upper & lower control arms and shocks too.
The rear end suspension will also have a different look too. The Air bar and associated hardware has a more modern technology look to it.
And all of this is controlled by an air compressor system.
There’s more parts from Air Ride Technologies, and lots of more goodies for our Nova when she returns from the Sand blasting shop, but we’re just teasing you for now. Keep an eye out for updates on this kick ass build as we turn a Slow-va into a Super Nova.
