In 2005 General Motors incorporated an Active Fuel Management (AFM) system into its software. While the AFM system did its job to converse fuel consumption under light loads, this new technology also caused many consumer headaches. As the ECU communicates with the engine, it would deactivate predetermined cylinders. This would make the engine to be less responsive when the AFM is active, along with increased engine wear, enhanced oil consumption, and a terrible exhaust droning sound. 

In 2019 GM introduced a new fuel management system called Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM). Unlike AFM, DFM will alternate which cylinders it shuts off and the number of cylinders depending on load conditions. While DFM performs better than AFM, it still has its drawbacks. When active, DFM will cause inconsistent power, enhanced engine wear, and exhaust drone. 

Many GM owners will pay for a custom tune to deactivate the AFM and DFM, a good solution. However, some are looking for a plug-n-play resolution for convenience, and that’s where Diablosport comes in.
