Teaser: Hooker Headers For Your Turbo Buick

GFGN-2

In a recent Street Legal TV article, we discussed possibly turning one of our staffer’s personal 1987 Buick Grand National into an official project car for the magazine. Although we’re still technically waiting for the official green light for approval, our friends at Holley Performance were eager to help us get started.

Hooker 1986-87 Buick Turbo Regal, GN, GNX, and T-Type Header Kit (PN 1115) Includes:

  • Headers
  • Cross-Over Pipe
  • Turbo Exhaust Inlet Tube
  • Ceramic Coating
As such, they suggested that we install a set of their Hooker header systems, specifically designed for the 1986-87 Buick Turbo Regals (T-Type, GN, GNX, et al., PN 1115). That’s perfect, because while the OEM exhaust manifolds are rumored to be capable of supporting up to 600 HP, the driver’s side is prone to cracking between the number 3 and 5 exhaust flange.

We’re looking to make more power than the 245 BHP that this car was rated at in 1987, so while the OEM manifolds might be sufficient, we’re looking for not only improved performance, bet better quality and something a little unique to set ours apart. Throw in the fact that these Hooker headers are ceramic coated, these beauties should help our underhood temps a little cooler – especially around the autocross track in the hot summer months.

We’ve included all of the benefits for you to help you decide if these headers are right for you and your Buick. Stay tuned for the upcoming install story.

The cross-over pipe and turbo exhaust inlet tube are ceramic coated like the headers.

Features:

  • Tuned-length primary tubes for maximum exhaust scavenging and velocity
  • Mandrel-bent tubing for smooth exhaust flow
  • Light weight & sturdy 18 gauge tubing
  • Long transition collector for decreased back pressure
  • 5/16” machined flanges for a perfect seal
  • Industry’s best welds for durability
  • Designed for optimal performance
  • All necessary hardware included for a complete installation
