When GM killed off its Oldsmobile division, it ended over 100 years of continuous car crafting that arguably peaked in the 1960s and 70s. This was when Oldsmobile, despite its name, became a car maker that young and old alike could enjoy. The premiere vehicle was the Cutlass Supreme 442, and while Oldsmobile never built a wagon version, most muscle car historians agree that they should have.

Hooniverse was tipped off to a unique, one-off Oldsmobile Cutlass wagon that was given the 442 treatment by a dedicated fan. With an asking price of just $16,500, you’d be hard pressed to come up with a good reason to say no to this Cutlass 442 muscle wagon.

This 1970 Cutlass 442 wagon is based on the Cutlass wagon, a 3,900 pound featureless ride that required buyers to tick off pretty much every option they wanted.

In this case though it serves well as a base vehicle. Powered by a 350 V8 and backed by an automatic transmission, this Olds wagon ain’t no rocket ship, but it’ll certainly sound the part of a muscle wagon.

The owner of this wagon did the job right, utilizing a clean, classic paint job without going all aftermarket on the motor. if Oldsmobile did build a Cutlass wagon in 1970, it would have looked a lot like this. Sure, it is just a tribute car, but kept clean and showcased right, it might be worth a good deal more than the $16,500 asking price…some day.

It’d certainly make for a better family cruiser than the Toyota Prius V, don’t you think?
