The Summit Racing Equipment Show Car Series is always a place where you can find the cream of the crop in custom high-end show cars competing for ISCA points, which if you didn’t know; ISCA-sanctioned events award an average of $10,000 in cash and prizes to exhibitors at each show and the total for the entire season is more than $750,000. More important than prize money, are the cool personalities that surround these events and who better to help usher in 2014 than “The King of Kustoms” himself Gene Winfield, a man who we’ve had the pleasure of spending time with on more than one occasion.
Known as “The King of Kustoms” – Gene will take his traveling “Genuine Hot Rod Hardware Chop Shop” display on the road with his first stop at the 54th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX November 28 – December 1, 2013 and work his magic in front of hundreds of adoring fans.
We were lucky enough to spend some time with Gene at last year’s Detroit Autorama and this is definitely something you don’t want to miss out on again. Watching him use decades worth of skill and experience as he transforms seemingly normal hot rods into expressions of his distinct style is a gift in itself for all that watch.
The Houstom AutoRama will also welcome a collection of ’60s “Ol Skool Rodz” display that will showcase time-honored hot rods, lead sleds and more, as well as a huge collection of stunning rides displayed outside the main entrance to the event. Also on tap for this year’s Houston event is the Milwinders award. One lucky winner will be chosen from the “Magnificent Seven” and presented with this honor for best first-time showing at the Houston AutoRama.
