Following a lengthy 12-year hiatus, the legendary Street Machine Nationals is finally back.

The Street Machine Nationals, which called the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds home for 13 years and played a significant role in the formation of the Pro Street movement, is set to return to the southern Illinois venue June 28-30, 2013 as Car Craft Magazine and event producers Family Events restore the historic happening.

The Street Machine Nationals, last held in 1998, was a celebration of all things horsepower, made famous for its hardcore horsepower, classic muscle cars, big block engines, powerful street rods, and a plethora of other radical dream rides as flocks of high horsepower, big-tire terrors took over the streets of the small midwestern town. Just as it did all those years ago, the reboot of the Street Machine Nationals is expected to showcase a sea of high performance street machines, hot rods, and street trucks from every corner of the nation.

“This event has a great history as being one of the first significant car shows and a major part of the Pro Street movement” said Car Craft Magazine Editor Douglas Glad.  “DuQuoin transformed into the Motorhead Mecca each year and filled the hotels, businesses and countryside with automotive enthusiasts from all over the nation.” Douglas added, “We’re proud to be a part of restoring this event with renewed focus on the cars, enthusiasts and manufacturers that make the industry great.”

Along with the thousands of cars expected to participate, the Street Machine Nationals will also feature the Performance Marketplace with manufacturers showing off their latest goods, a burnout contest, dyno challenge, a meet and greet with the editors of Car Craft, the Miss Street Machine Nationals contest, and more.
