Kyle Tucker from Detroit Speed and Engineering is our first guest in this week’s show, and it’s the last in our series of “live” interviews done from the 2011 GoodGuys Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, IA over the 4th of July. Kyle and his wife Stacy are the husband and wife duo that have likely done more to change the way people think about Pro Touring than any other people on the planet.
Believe it or not, but they are both trained engineers and met while doing performance suspension work at GM!
After 10 years of working for the General they decided to give their own business a try for a one year period, with Kyle leaving GM and Staci staying on to keep the cash flow moving in the right direction.
One year turned into two, two into four, and today it’s impossible not to spot their products on the flying Camaro’s, Chevelle’, and Nova’s that you see at autocross events.
To date they’ve always focused on GM product development, but Kyle revealed in this interview that they have a Mustang package in development! You’ll see their test car on the track later this year…and you heard it here first!
Our second guest is Adam Moore, the poobah at Karl’s Performance Parts, the GM Performance Parts wing of Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA. Adam is the man behind all GM Performance Parts that are sold there, be it for race cars, street rods, or muscle cars. Adam gave a full description of the GMPP lineup in the interview and also went into detail on the “big block” LS3 demonstration engine that he built.
With a carb intake, trick covers over the coil packs that look like valve covers, and a snorkel air cleaner it really does look like an orange big block one might expect under the hood of a ’69 Chevelle, Camaro, or Corvette! Best of all, Adam let us know that Karl’s Performance Parts only charges just a few dollars over cost is able to ship anywhere!
