NHRA wrapped up their second race of six in their Countdown to the Championship at Dallas Motorplex in Texas. The four pro classes all had different winners than the first Countdown event last weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, which is going to make for an interesting race heading into St. Louis this coming weekend.

The unofficial NHRA Championship points standings as of Sunday night had Spencer Massey and Antron Brown tied at 2256 in Top Fuel with seven time champion Tony Schumacher back by only 24 points. Fourth and fifth are held by Shawn Langdon and Morgan Lucas. Funny Car lists another Don Schumacher car, Ron Capps, in the top spot over John Force Racing’s Mike Neff. In Dallas, Neff went out in the second round and Capps dropped in the semis against eventual runner up Matt Hagen (Bob Tasca III got the win). The math ends up with Capps leading Neff by 94 points. Jack Beckman is one more point back with Cruz Pedregon and Robert Hight rounding out the top five.
The semi finals of Pro Stock Motorcycle were quite a surprise as points leader Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines both bowed out in the finals giving way Karen Stoffer and Ray Hector to battle for the Wally (with Ray getting his first win). Krawiec still leads Hines in the Countdown standings but only by 11 points. The four wheeled Pro Stock saw a lead change as former leader Jason Line was routed on a holeshot by Rodger Brogdon in the first round. Allen Johnson took full advantage of the opportunity and won the event over Erica Enders , who also moved up to fourth in the standings. Heading into St. Louis this coming weekend, Johnson has a 93 point advantage over Jason Line followed by Vincent Nobile, Enders and Greg Anderson.
